Notable Niantic Annual Events
Get your heart working again after winter with the O Niantic 5K and Wee Mile March 19th 2016. The Wee Mile for kids 2-11 begins at 9:00 am. The adult 5K starts on Hope Street at 9:30 am and finishes on Methodist Street. The USAT&F certified course is a flat loop.
A brand new event premiers on April 24, 2016. The Boardwalk 5K features the newly restored boardwalk. Participants walk/run a 5K course along the beach with views of Long Island Sound, Main Street, the boardwalk, McCook Park; finishing near the Hole-in-the-Wall beach. Festivities and awards presentations follow at the pavilion in McCook Park.
Sponsored by the East Lyme Auxiliary of Child and Family Agency of Southeastern CT and the East Lyme Parks and Recreation Department, the 9th Annual Touch-A-Truck event begins at 9:00am on Saturday May 21, 2016 at McCook Point Park.
Children of all ages can see and touch trucks of all kinds with demonstrations. A $4 donation (ages 3 and up) benefit the Child & Family Agency of Southeastern CT.
Honoring those who serve, the Memorial Day Parade begins near St John’s Green on May 30, 2016. The parade proceeds down Main Street and ends at the East Lyme Town Hall.
The 38th annual Lobster Fest and the 56th annual Juried Arts & Crafts show kicks the summer into high gear July 2-3, 2016. Sponsored by the Niantic Lions Club it takes place at the East Lyme Town Hall on Pennsylvania Ave. Over 180 vendors are anticipated at the free craft show.
No beach pass required after 5:00pm to attend the McCook’s Beach Summer Concert Series. Music on the beach the month of August 2016 from 6:00-8:00pm
For the 12th year, Main Street merchants sponsors the annual Bargains by the Bay Tent and Sidewalk Sale August 11-14, 2016.
The most entertaining of annual events of the year is the Niantic Village Halloween Parade on October 30, 2016. Starting at 2:00pm; candy and costume prizes will be awarded.
